Sometimes a league starts the season with an odd number of teams, or a team drops out partway through, leaving an uneven number. When this happens, a placeholder team is added to even things out. This is called a BYE team.
When a team is matched up against the BYE team, there are a few rules to follow, with some room for flexibility.
How BLS-2027 Recognizes a BYE Team
BLS-2027 identifies a BYE team by its name. Standard edition users must name this team "BYE." Professional and AutoScoring edition users can choose a different name if they like. Either way, the name used in your team rosters must match exactly so BLS-2027 can recognize it each week.
Once BLS-2027 spots the BYE team in a matchup, it applies the correct rules to the team playing against it.
The Draw Method
One helpful feature is the Draw method. With this method, you pick another team in the league, and their scores are used to stand in for the BYE team that week. You choose the drawn team right from the score entry screen.
We recommend using the Draw method. It keeps things fair and gives you a chance to keep an eye on the drawn team, in case they need a little extra encouragement to bring their best game that night.
