Moving Your Software to a New Computer

If you need to move your software and league information to a new computer, here is an easy guide to help.

Common reasons you might need to do this:

• You got a new computer and need to move everything over.
• Your old computer stopped working and has since been fixed or replaced.
• You simply want to move the software to a different computer.

Part 1: Back Up Your Data (On Your Old Computer)

If your old computer still works, follow these steps to save your information onto a flash drive:

1. Open the program. Turn on your old computer and open the program like you always do.
2. Back up your leagues.You have two options here:
   • If you only need to back up one league at a time, click Maintenance, then Backup, then League. If a league is already open on the screen, click File, then Close League first, so you can get to the Maintenance menu.
   • If you need to back up all of your leagues at once, click Maintenance, then Backup, then Backup All Leagues instead. This saves everything into one single file, which is often the easier option.
   Either way, save the file onto your flash drive.
3. Back up your system files. Click Maintenance, then Backup, then System Files. Save these onto your flash drive too.
4. Back up your local awards. Click Maintenance, then Backup, then Local Awards. Save these onto your flash drive as well.

If your old computer does not work anymore, try to find your most recent backup files, if you have any saved somewhere. If you can't find any backups at all, you will need to type your information into the new computer by hand.

Part 2: Restore Your Data (On Your New Computer)

Once you're ready on the new computer, follow these steps:

1. Install the software. Use the original CD, USB drive, or go to the CDE Software website and download the installer. Follow the instructions on the screen.
2. Register the software. Enter your product registration information. This was given to you by CDE Software.
3. Restore your leagues.Click Maintenance, then Restore, then League.
   • If you backed up your leagues one at a time, restore them the same way, one at a time.
   • If you used Backup All Leagues, simply select that one combined file instead, and it will restore everything at once.
4. Restore your system files. Click Maintenance, then Restore, then System Files, and restore them from your flash drive.
5. Restore your local awards. Click Maintenance, then Restore, then Local Awards, and restore them from your flash drive.
