Windows Updates Affecting BLS, BTM, and TBRAC

Two recent Microsoft updates may interfere with the way BLS, BTM, and TBRAC communicate with scoring systems and handle exports/imports. If these updates are installed on Windows 11, they can prevent the programs from validating the scoring system or transferring files correctly.

Affected Updates:
• KB5065426
• KB5064081

To resolve the issue and stop these updates from coming back, follow the steps below.

Step 1 – Check if the updates are installed

  1. Open the Start menu and go to Settings.

  2. Select Windows Update, then click Update history.

  3. Look under “Quality Updates” for KB5065426 or KB5064081.

Step 2 – Remove the updates

  1. From the Update history screen, click Uninstall updates.

  2. Find KB5065426 and KB5064081 in the list.

  3. Highlight each one and choose Uninstall.

  4. Restart the computer when prompted.

Step 3 – Prevent the updates from reinstalling

  1. Download Microsoft’s “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter (wushowhide.diagcab) from Microsoft’s support site.

  2. Run the tool and click Next.

  3. Choose “Hide updates,” then select KB5065426 and KB5064081.

  4. Finish the wizard so Windows will block these updates.

After completing these steps, BLS, BTM, and TBRAC should be able to validate scoring systems and export/import data as expected.
