How to Drop Teams and Consolidate Partial Teams in BLS-2025

If you need to drop teams from your league and consolidate partial teams to create full teams, you can follow these steps to handle the transition effectively.

Dropping 2 Teams

  1. Enter Scores and Print Standings:
    • Enter scores for the current week and print the standing sheet.
  2. Advance to Next Week:
    • Advance to the next week of play.
  3. Remove Players from Dropped Teams:
    • Go to Weekly > Prepare > Team Rosters.
    • Remove the players who are moving to another team or leaving the league by dropping them from their current team and adding them to the sub list.
  4. Re-Order Teams:
    • Go to Utilities > Teams > Re-order.
    • Swap the positions of the last two teams staying with the teams being dropped to minimize disruption.
      • Example:
        • Original Order: Team #5 and Team #7 are dropping, so Team #9 moves to Team #5's position, and Team #10 moves to Team #7's position.
        • New Order: Teams 5 and 7 are now at positions 9 and 10, respectively.
  5. Remove Dropped Teams:
    • Go to Utilities > Teams > Remove Teams.
    • Select the two teams to delete. Selected teams will appear in RED.
    • Once the selection is complete, click the green check mark to delete the teams.
    • The program will adjust the lane schedule for the new number of teams and prompt you to verify the lane assignments.
  6. Verify Team Order:
    • Verify that the teams are in the correct order.
  7. Add Players to New Teams:
    • Go to Adjust Team Rosters and add the players to their new teams using the add button or their ID#.
    • If players are quitting the league, go to Bowler Maintenance and set their status to quit league or delete their name from the league file.
  8. Delete Future Weeks:
    • Go to Utilities > Delete Future Weeks to remove all future weeks and scores beyond this week, ensuring the old team is no longer included.
  9. Print Recaps and Export Data:
    • Print recaps and, if using AutoScoring (A/S), export to the Front Desk.
    • Make any additional changes as necessary.
  10. Process the League as Normal:
  • After all changes are made, continue to process the league as normal.
Note: In the re-order screen, if only 1 team changes position, only 2 teams should be in a different color. If 2 teams change position, 4 teams should be in a different color.

Dropping 1 Team

  1. Complete the First 3 Steps Above:
    • Follow the steps to enter scores, advance to the next week, and remove players from the team being dropped.
  2. Add a BYE Team:
    • Go to Utilities > Teams > Add Teams.
    • Add 1 team and a BYE team.
  3. Re-Order Teams:
    • Go to Utilities > Teams > Re-order Teams.
    • Swap the BYE Team with the position of the team to be dropped, keeping the rest of the teams in their original positions.
  4. Remove Dropped Team and BYE Team:
    • Go to Utilities > Teams > Remove Teams.
    • Select the team that is dropping and the new BYE team, then click Delete.
  5. Verify Team Order:
    • Verify that the teams are in the correct order.
  6. Print Recaps and Export Data:
    • Print recaps and, if applicable, export to the Front Desk.
    • Make any additional changes as necessary.
  7. Process the League as Normal:
    • Continue to process the league as usual.
Note: This method is used when all stats for the BYE team need to be reset to 0 (recommended).

Method 2: Rename to BYE Team (Keep Wins/Losses)

  1. Drop All Players from the Team:
    • Remove all players from the team, leaving an empty roster.
  2. Rename Team to BYE:
    • Change the team name to BYE.
    • This method keeps all previous wins and losses that the original team earned.
  3. Delete Future Weeks:
    • Go to Utilities > League > Delete Future Weeks to remove all future weeks and scores beyond the current week.
These methods provide different ways to handle the dropping of teams, depending on whether you want to keep or remove previous wins and losses.
