Awarding Points to Teams Opposing a BYE Team by Bowling Within a Percentage of Their Average

If your league is certified and has a rule about awarding points to a team playing against a BYE team, it’s important to align with USBC regulations. If your rule states that teams must bowl within a percentage of their average, you need to modify this to comply with USBC guidelines.

Steps to Adjust the Rule for Bowling Against a BYE Team

  1. Change to "Number of Pins Below Average":
    • According to USBC rules, a league can only set the rule based on the number of pins below the team average.
    • Percentage-based criteria is not allowed.
  2. Update Your League Rule:
    • Go to Setup > League > Rules in BLS-2025.
    • Modify the BYE team rule so that the team must bowl within a specified number of pins below their average to earn the points.
By making this adjustment, your league remains compliant with USBC certification requirements and correctly awards points to teams opposing a BYE team based on their performance relative to their average.
