How to Set Up Social Distancing with Left Teams Bowling in One Shift and Right Teams Bowling in Another Shift

This setup, called Single Lane, Split Shift Social Distancing, allows each team to use one lane only, with a dark lane between teams. Teams are split into two shifts: odd-numbered teams bowl first, followed by even-numbered teams.

Configuration Instructions for BLS-2025

  1. Open BLS-2025 and Open the League.
  2. From the main menu, go to Setup > League > Lane Assignments.
  3. On the right side of the Lane Assignments grid, select the Social Distancing tab.
  4. Choose Single Lane, Split Shift:
    • This setup ensures that teams only bowl on a single lane while keeping the other lane in the pair empty.
  5. Adjusting for Automatic Scoring:
    • If you have automatic scoring, you need to complete additional configuration.
    • Go to Weekly > Prepare > Export to Scoring System.
    • Select the Options tab.
    • Uncheck the Bowl on a Pair of Lanes option. This should enable the Bowl all frames on same Lane option.
    • This setting informs the scoring system that teams are to bowl all frames on a single lane without alternating.

Notes for Automatic Scoring Centers:

  • Each scoring system may handle this setup differently when exporting league data, particularly regarding instructions to bowl on the same lane without alternating.
  • Depending on the scoring system used, you may need to adjust settings in your front desk software.
  • For assistance with your scoring system’s specific settings, contact the support team for your scoring system manufacturer.

Advantages:

  • This setup adheres to USBC emergency rules, allowing sanctioned leagues to use this social distancing method.
  • It ensures that each team, regardless of whether they use a left or right lane, bowls on fresh lane conditions.
This configuration allows for a safe and organized environment by splitting the teams into shifts while maintaining adequate distancing between them.
