How to Set Up Social Distancing with a Dark Pair Between Two Pairs of Teams in BLS-2025

If your league needs to maintain social distancing by keeping an unused pair of lanes (a "dark pair") between pairs of teams, you can configure this option in BLS-2025. Here’s how:

Configuration Instructions for Dark Pair Setup

  1. Open BLS-2025 and then Open Your League.
  2. From the main menu, go to Setup > League > Lane Assignments.
  3. On the right side of the Lane Assignments grid, select the Social Distancing tab.
  4. Select Dark Pair:
    • Choose the Dark Pair option, which will set up an unused lane pair between teams.
    • Example: Teams will bowl on 1-2, 5-6, 9-10, 13-14, 17-18, keeping the pairs in between unused.
  5. Split Shift (If Needed):
    • If your center does not have enough lanes to accommodate all teams with a dark pair setup (e.g., in smaller centers), set the Split Shift option to Yes. This will split the league into two shifts (e.g., Early/Late or Day 1/Day 2).
  6. Close the Lane Assignments to save the configuration.

Effect of the Configuration

  • With this setup, the lane assignment sheet, standings, and recaps will reflect the correct lane pairings with the dark pairs between active lanes.
  • The automatic scoring export will also display the correct pairs (e.g., lanes 1-2, 5-6, etc.) with the appropriate spacing.

Note for Automatic Scoring Centers

  • Scoring systems may handle the export differently when there are gaps between lane pairs.
  • It is recommended to test this setup with your scoring system. If any issues arise, reach out to your scoring system’s support team for guidance.
This configuration helps ensure that social distancing requirements are met while allowing teams to bowl on traditional pairs with appropriate spacing between them.
