Why is a Bowler Missing from League Awards on Standing Sheets?

If a bowler who should be listed for a league award, such as high game or series, is missing from the Standing Sheet under Season High Scores, there are a few possible reasons:
  1. Ineligible Scores:
    • The bowler's scores might not be eligible based on the league rules configured in BLS. As the league approaches the final stretch, it's common for bowlers to be removed from Season High league awards if they no longer qualify.

How to Determine Why a Bowler is Missing:

  1. Check High Scores:
    • Go to Weekly > High Scores, Stats, Standings, Birthdays from the main menu.
    • Click on the Individual Bowler tab.
    • If it's a mixed league, select the bowler's gender at the bottom of the page.
  2. Review Season High Scores:
    • By default, this screen will display the Season High Scores for all bowlers.
    • Scores listed in gray are not eligible. Note the symbol displayed before the bowler's name, then use the legend at the top of the screen to determine why the score is ineligible.
  3. Check the Week the Score Was Bowled:
    • If the score isn't listed, go back to the week the score was bowled.
    • Go to Weekly > Enter/Correct Current Scores and verify that the score was entered correctly.
    • Ensure there are no overrides configured, as indicated by a brown box.

Additional Considerations:

  1. Awards Configuration:
    • If you give individual bowler awards, ensure you've selected the option for scratch, handicap, or pin over average awards under Setup > Rules and then the General tab.
  2. Eligibility:
    • Check the league's requirements for the number of games or percentage of the season a bowler must participate in to qualify for league prizes. This rule is configured under Setup > Rules > Awards on the Individual Eligibility for Awards tab.
  3. Pre-bowl or Make-up Games:
    • If the qualifying games were bowled as a pre-bowl or make-up, ensure your BLS rules are set to allow these. Remember, for make-up games, you must process them in the week the scores were originally entered.
  4. Substitutes:
    • Verify if the bowler is currently listed as a substitute and check if your BLS rules allow subs to qualify for league awards.
  5. Perfect Scores:
    • If the bowler rolled a perfect game, ensure your BLS rules do not exclude these scores from qualifying for league awards.
  6. High Average:
    • If the bowler has the highest average, check if your BLS rules exclude bowlers with the highest average from certain awards like game, series, or Most Improved Average awards.
  7. Most Improved Average:
    • Ensure that your BLS rules don't exclude the Most Improved Average winners from game and series awards.
  8. Award Priorities:
    • BLS allows setting award priorities based on game or series and scratch or handicap. If a bowler is only showing one award when they should be listed for multiple, check your league's award rules.
  9. Ties for Awards:
    • When a tie occurs, the way ties are handled can affect awards. Review the rule set for ties under Weekly League Duties > Results > Awards to see if it needs adjustment.
By following these steps, you can determine why a bowler may be missing from league awards and take appropriate action to ensure the standings and awards are accurate.
