Configuring Local and Bowling Center Awards in BLS-2025

BLS-2025 allows you to customize and configure various awards through four main tabs: Bowling Center Awards, Local Assoc. Awards, State Assoc. Awards, and Other Awards.

Viewing and Managing Awards

  • View Awards:

    • Click on the tab corresponding to the award group you want to view.
    • Awards set up for that group will be listed in the Awards in This Group box.
    • To see the details of a specific award, click its name in the list.
  • Rename Award Groups:

    • To change the name of an award group, click on the tab at the top and enter the new name, such as "Center Awards."

Special Note for Other Association Awards

  • The Other Association tab is specifically for leagues sanctioned/certified by organizations other than USBC or CTF. These awards are available only when you’ve configured Other Organization under Setup > League > Rules > What Is This League > Will be sanctioned in.

Adding a New Award

  1. Select Award Group:

    • Click the award group tab where the new award will belong.
    • Click Add Award. A new entry named Undefined Award will appear in the list.
  2. Define the Award:

    • Enter the award description.
    • Set the parameters in the following order:
      1. Association Required: Select the required association from the drop-down list.
      2. Award Applies To: Choose the genders that qualify.
      3. Type of Award: Select the award type from the drop-down list.
      4. Frequency: Choose how often the award can be earned.
    • Set up the rules for earning the award, which vary based on the award type.

Types of Awards

  • Miscellaneous Award:

    • For awards that can’t be detected by a specific game or series score (e.g., splits or clean games).
    • Select the appropriate description from the Award Category list. For split or spare awards, click the pins to highlight the needed ones.
  • Game or Series Award:

    • Based on a score.
    • Choose how the award is determined (e.g., exact score, score range, pins over average).
    • Set any requirements for age, average, and games bowled.
  • Triplicate or Stepladder Award:

    • For awards based on identical scores across games or a stepladder pattern.
    • For triplicates, keep Minimum and Maximum Increments at zero.
    • For stepladders, set the increments to detect patterns (e.g., +1 for each game or -1 for a reverse stepladder).
  • Progressive Award:

    • Based on a score within an average class (e.g., a 600 series for an average of 150 or less).
    • Enter age and games bowled requirements, then pair award scores with the maximum average allowed.
    • Note: Setting age restrictions requires birthdays to be entered for each bowler. Bowlers without birthdays configured won’t be eligible for age-restricted awards.

Modifying an Award

  • To modify an award, select the award group, click on the award in the list, and adjust the settings or name as needed.

Removing an Award

  • To remove an award, select the award group, click on the award in the list, and then click Remove Award. The award will be deleted from the group.
By following these steps, you can easily configure and manage custom awards in BLS-2025 to suit your league's needs.

Awards files (.AWARDS) should be Excel files for ease of editing, backup and restoring.
