Resolving Issues with Norton Antivirus and BLS-2025

We've noticed that Norton Antivirus can sometimes cause issues with the installation and operation of BLS-2025 and other software products. These issues haven't been seen with other antivirus programs like McAfee, MalwareBytes, AVG, Panda, Kaspersky, or Microsoft's built-in antivirus.

One common error reported by users is the "write error 5 Catastrophic error" during registration.

If You're Experiencing Issues After Installation:

If your installation was successful but you're encountering write errors, or if program registration and preferences aren't saving, Norton Antivirus might be interfering by blocking the updating or writing of files, including league data.

Possible Solutions:

  1. Reinstall Norton Antivirus:

    • Some users have found that uninstalling and then reinstalling Norton Antivirus can resolve the issue.
  2. Add Exclusions in Norton:

    • For users who prefer to keep Norton, the following folders should be added to Norton’s Real Time Exclusions to be ignored by Auto Protect, Script Control, Behavioral Protection, and Download Intelligence:
      • C:\users\public\documents\BLS2025
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\BLS-2025
    • Additionally, the following exclusion should be added under Process Exclusions through Norton Popup Notifications:
      • :\Program Files (x86)\BLS-2025\BLS2025.EXE
    • Please Note: CDE Software does not use Norton Antivirus or test installers with it. Therefore, it’s outside the scope of our support to assist directly with non-CDE products. For detailed instructions, please visit Norton Support.

  3. Additional Steps Provided by Norton:

    • Open your Norton device security product.
    • If you see the My Norton window, in the Device Security row, click Open.
    • In the main window, click Settings.
    • Go to the Antivirus settings.
    • Click the Script Control tab.
    • Under Remove scripts when downloading documents, switch to Off.
    • Under Block scripts when opening documents, switch to Off.
    • Click Apply.
    • In the Security Request window, select the duration for which you want to turn off the feature, then click OK.
    • Finally, click Close.

These steps should help resolve any issues caused by Norton Antivirus with your BLS-2025 software.Resolving Issues with Norton Antivirus and BLS-2025
