Using Windows S Mode and Installing CDE Software Products

Windows S Mode is a streamlined version of Windows designed for security and performance, giving you a familiar experience while keeping your system safe. In S Mode, your PC can only install apps from the Microsoft Store and uses Microsoft Edge for browsing.
However, because CDE Software products are downloaded from our secure website, they can't be installed on a PC that's in S Mode. To install CDE Software products, you'll need to switch your PC out of S Mode. The good news is that switching out of S Mode is free.

How to Check if Your PC is in S Mode

  1. Go to Settings:
    • Open Settings > System > About.
  2. Check Windows Specifications:
    • Scroll down to the "Windows Specifications" section.
    • If you see “in S mode” next to the Edition entry, your PC is in S Mode.

How to Switch Out of S Mode

For Windows 11:
  1. Open Settings:
    • Go to Settings > System > Activation.
  2. Go to the Store:
    • In the "Switch to Windows 11 Pro" section, select Go to the Store. (Be careful not to click the "Go to the Store" link in the "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section.)
  3. Switch Out of S Mode:
    • On the "Switch out of S mode" page that appears in the Microsoft Store, click the Get button.
    • After seeing a confirmation message, you’ll be able to install apps from outside the Microsoft Store.
For Windows 10:
  1. Open Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation.
  2. Go to the Store:
    • In the "Switch to Windows 10 Home" or "Switch to Windows 10 Pro" section, select Go to the Store. (Be careful not to click the "Go to the Store" link in the "Upgrade your edition of Windows" section.)
  3. Switch Out of S Mode:
    • On the "Switch out of S mode" page in the Microsoft Store, click the Get button.
    • After seeing a confirmation message, you’ll be able to install apps from outside the Microsoft Store.
Once you’ve switched out of S Mode, you’ll be able to install CDE Software products without any issues.
