Calculating handicap for a multi-player event, the averages from each player is combined to create a team average. Using this team average can then determine the team handicap.
Take a good look at the below examples. Notice that since fractions are always dropped in bowling, that there can become a difference in the total handicap for the series depending on the method chosen.
Team Average using Handicap per Series:
Bowler 1 [133]
Bowler 2 [159]
Bowler 3 [145]
Bowler 4 [153]
Bowler 5 [194]
Team Average per Game = 784
Team Average per Series = 784 * 3 = 2352
Handicap Base for 5 person team is 1150 per game.
Series Handicap Base for 5 person team = 1150 x 3 = 3450
Calculating handicap would be 3450-2352 = 1098 * .90 (90%) = 988.2.
Fractions (never round up!!!!!) are dropped to get 988 for Team Handicap for Series.
