How to email bowlers from within BLS

To send emails to bowlers from within BLS, an email account on an email server must either already be established or created.  For optimal experience a standard SMTP server should be used, however, BLS does have compatibility with web based email servers, such as Google or Outlook.com.

First thing that must happen is BLS must be configured to work with the email server you intend to send emails from.  

To configure BLS Email settings, open BLS and go to File > Program Preferences > Internet > Change Internet Upload and Email Settings.


The settings will vary depending on the email server you use.  The above example is how Jane Doe set her BLS to work with Gmail.  Jane clicked Sign In With Google after filling in the top portion of the screen and then logged into her Gmail account.  Once she approved BLS to use her email account to send messages, she clicked Send Test Email and received the test email a couple minutes later in her Gmail Account.


As mentioned earlier, the settings will vary depending on the email server you use.  The above example is how James Doe set his BLS to work with his Outlook.com account.  James clicked Sign In With Microsoft after filling in the top portion of the screen and then logged into his Outlook.com account.  Once he approved BLS to use his email account to send messages, he clicked Send Test Email and received the test email a couple minutes later in his Outlook.com Account.

Again, as mentioned earlier, the settings will vary depending on the email server you use.  The above example is how Frank Doe set his BLS to work with his Internet provider's SMTP server account.  Frank contacted his Internet provider and was sent the settings necessary to enter into BLS.  Frank configured the screen with the settings the Internet provider sent and clicked clicked Send Test Email and received the test email a couple minutes later in his email Account.

Important:  CDE Software does not know what exact settings to enter into the screen as you are not using CDE Software's email server. Only you or your Internet provider knows the specific settings to enter. Many of the common Internet providers, such as Comcast, has instructions on their website on how to configure an email program to send email.

Once you have configured BLS successfully to send a test email, to send emails to your bowlers, you open the league and click Tasks > Internet > Email Bowlers and enter your subject and message and select the bowlers to receive the email.  Then either click Send Email One at a Time or click Send Email Together
