Big 'S' appears on recap sheets or error indicating fonts are corrupt

When printing Recap Sheets, a big 'S' may appear in the upper right corner and/or the Win/Loss boxes will not be displayed correctly. In addition, there may also be errors when opening the BLS program. This is typically caused by missing or corrupt fonts.

Occasionally, font files may become corrupt or do not properly install or get registered into your Windows environment.

To resolve this issue, it is recommended to re-install BLS by downloading the current version from our web site at http://www.cdesoftware.com.  If the current Program Version is the same as the one being installed, the InstallShield Maintenance screen will appear with the option to Modify, Repair or Remove.  Select the Repair option. If the Program Version being re-installed is newer than the current one, the InstallShield Wizard will upgrade the current installation similar to when the program was first installed.
Note: If the computer running BLS is not connected to the Internet, the program can be re-installed from the original installation media.

As an alternative, or if the above procedure does not work, try the following:

1.Disable any anti-virus software.

2.Uninstall the BLS software using the Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel in Windows.

3. Reinstall the BLS software from the original CD-ROM or download.

4.Update the program from our web site at http://www.cdesoftware.com by clicking on the Download Software link.

Finally, the fonts can manually be replaced using the following procedure:

1.Locate the cdefonts.zip file in the 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\CDE Software Shared\installed_fonts' folder.
Note: For 64-bit Editions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, the location will be "C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\..."

2.Extract the fonts from the cdefonts.zip to another location or in the same folder.

3.For Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows Vista, right click on the fonts extracted in Step 2 and select the Install option. Overwrite the existing file if prompted.

4.Open Control Panel from the Start menu in Windows and select Fonts

5.Locate the Bowl Dingbats-6tt and Bowl Dingbats-7tt fonts and delete them.

6.From the menu bar, select File, then Install New Font

7.Under Folders, navigate to the folder where the fonts were extracted and select the fonts deleted in Step 4, then click OK.
