Understanding The Pin Drop Rule In a Handicap League

This rule only applies to the average and not the handicap.

Using the drop pin rule in a handicap league, the handicap will be applied to the drop pin average, not to the actual average (true average).

Example:  A player has an entering/book average of 200  and they have bowled very bad one of the weeks and their average drops to 180, the drop pin rule will only allow that bowler to use a 190 average (based on a 10 pin drop rule).  The league handicap is 90% of 200, so no matter what the bowler bowls, the most handicap he can receive would be 9 pins (the 190 drop pin average).
