How do I disable the CDE Updater from starting

To stop the CDE Updater from starting, do the following:

Method 1
  1. Using File Explorer, Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\CDE Software Shared\Updater2020
  2. Right-click on CDEUPDATER.EXE and select Run as Admin. It's important to run this as admin in order to have permissions to change the Settings
  3. Click Settings in the CDE updater
  4. Uncheck Automatic Check for Updates
  5. Close CDE updater

Method 2
  1. Hold the WINDOWS key and the R key at the same time
  2. Enter taskschd.msc into the box and press CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER at same time to run the task scheduler with the necessary privileges. 
  3. Select the Task Scheduler Library to display the list of tasks that run on a scheduled basis.
  4. Locate the CDE Software Update Checker 2020 (or CDE Software Update Checker)
  5. Right-click on the item and select DISABLE
  6. Close the Computer Management Window
