Norton Antivirus and BLS-2024

Norton Antivirus has been found to create installation and/or operation issues with BLS-2024 and other software products. We have not seen these issues with other AntiVirus products, such as McAfee, MalwareBytes, AVG, Panda, Kaspersky or Microsoft's build-in Antivirus.

One of the errors reported by users is "write error 5 Catastrophic error" on registration.

If your installation was successful, yet you receive write errors after starting BLS or program registration or program preferences were lost, this is due to interference caused by Norton Antivirus blocking the updating or writing of files, including league data.

For some customers, uninstalling then reinstalling Norton's AntiVirus products may resolve.

Some of our users who also use Norton for their AntiVirus protection have found that the following folders need to be added to Norton's Real Time Exclusions to ignore by Auto Protect, Script Control, Behavioral Protection and Download Intelligence:
  • C:\users\public\documents\BLS2024
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\BLS-2024
The following exclusion also needed to be added under Process Exclusions through Norton Popup Notifications:
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\BLS-2024\BLS2024.EXE
Please note that CDE Software does not use Norton Antivirus or test installers with it. It is outside the scope of our support to directly provide assistance with non-CDE products.
