Cursor doesn't come off the birth date field

I am using BLS-2017 Version 29.03.05 on a Windows 8 platform.

I am entering addresses and all that other stuff for each bowler.  But one bowler decided to get cute.  He put his birthdate as May 28, 2016.  I didn't see the year until I started typing in the field.

But when I tried to erase the field and move on, the cursor gets stuck on the year portion of the field.  I tried to click and drag the field and hit "delete" or "backspace" or anything to clear the birthdate.  Those don't work and I can't get off the field at all.  The only way I could get to the next field, or even the next bowler was to put in a date. The cursor would then move off the field and I could continue.

Is this an "unexpected feature" that forces me to put SOMETHING in the birthdate field? Or am I doing something wrong?

That appears to be how the field behaves. However, it will let you insert a non-valid date, and I tested all zeroes (00/00/0000), the slashes are automatic, and it immediately advanced to the e-mail address field after the eighth zero. Going to any other bowler, then back to the individual in question, the date of birth was now blank. So all zeroes will be one way of blanking that field.
