In build 10565 of Windows 10, Microsoft changed the behavior of printing. When printing from ANY application, Windows will change the default printer to the last used printer. This can give undesired results when you have multiple printers and use different printers for different functions in CDE or any other software product.
To revert back to the prior familiar behavior of Windows keeping the default printer the same unless you specifically change a different printer to be the new default printer, do the following:
- Open the Settings App. (Press the WINDOWS key and the I keys together) to open the settings in Windows 10.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners
- Change the option for "Let Windows Manage My Default Printer" to OFF.
Thanks to Andrew Haberman for discovering the issue and resolution.
