Taking a tournament between tournament manager and center

Transporting a tournament between a bowling center and tournament manager is a very simple process, with a minor amount of care necessary to assure proper handling.

The first thing that is mandatory is that the center and tournament manager must be on the same major version.  As an example, if the center has BTM-2017 and the secretary has BTM-2015, then the tournament data can not go back and forth.  Data can only be upgraded, not downgraded.

The other thing that occasionally is required is that both the center and tournament manager need to be at least at a similar version number.  Example would be if there was a bug fix that affected the data and was fixed in 29.03.01, then it would be important that both the center and tournament manager be at least at 29.03.01 or newer.

To go from tournament manager to center

Tournament Manager will do the following after the tournament has been prepared:

1. From within the tournament, go to UTILITIES > BACKUP TOURNAMENT and save the backup on a USB Flash Drive.
2. If emailing the tournament to the center, use your Email program and attach the backup file to the email to send to the center. Otherwise take the flash drive to the center.

Center would do the following after receiving the backup file:

1. Center would Backup the tournament if it already is on their BTM as a precaution. UTILITIES > BACKUP TOURNAMENT
2. Center would Delete the tournament in BTM so that data files are not mixed together. UTILITIES > DELETE TOURNAMENT
3. If the tournament backup was emailed, the Center would open the email and save the backup file attached to the email sent from the tournament manager to the Windows desktop. If BTM is on another computer than the email program, then the Center would copy the backup file to a flash drive and then take the flash drive to the BTM computer and then copy the backup file from the flash drive to the desktop.
4. Center would Restore Tournament from the tournament manager Backup. UTILITIES > RESTORE TOURNAMENT

The same process can be done when going from center tournament manager.

To go from center to tournament manager:

From within the league, go to UTILITIES > BACKUP TOURNAMENT and save the backup on a USB Flash Drive.
If emailing the tournament to the tournament manager, use your Email program and attach the backup file to the email to send to the secretary. Otherwise take the flash drive to the tournament manager.

Tournament manager would do the following after receiving the backup file.

1. Backup the tournament if it already is on their BTM as a precaution.  UTILITIES > BACKUP TOURNAMENT
2. Delete the league in BTM so that data files are not mixed together. UTILITIES > DELETE TOURNAMENT
3. Restore Tournament from the tournament manager Backup. UTILITIES > RESTORE TOURNAMENT
