Backups Extremely Slow

When we do a backup on the PC, it takes about 2 minutes compared to about 10 seconds with BLS 2014.  When uploading standings to League Secretary, same problem..  Backups take forever

We have had a couple reports of this, but it is only been corner case instances.  There hasn't been any changes to the core backup routines.  So it sounds like something in your specific machine that is causing the slow down, such as an Antivirus utilities or similar.  Or could be a Windows related issue. 
 
Every test we've done in house, with different operating systems and such, the backup speed is the same as BLS-2014.

24 Teams takes 2 1/2 minutes to backup locally.

Randy - You might try this to see if there is any difference.  Go to your C:\Program Files (x86)\BLS-2015 folder. Rename xceedzip50.dll to xceedzip50x.dll.
Then go to c:\Program files (x86)\BLS2014 folder and copy the xceedip50.dll and paste into the BLS2015 folder.
Start BLS-2015 and compare the backup speed.

Perhaps add BLS-2015 to the exception list for VIPRE?  I'm wondering, since all the slowdown reports are coming from Vector Plus installs and they all have VIPRE, that the AntiVirus is causing the issue.

Randy - If it's an external firewall, it shouldn't affect anything. Firewalls typically don't cause a slowdown of file access, but Antivirus type products would.

I have BLS Pro Version 27.03.04 and I'm experiencing same problem. I'm using Norton 360 same version as last year. The time is about a minute difference from the 2014 version to the 2015 version. My league is only 8 teams.

Just for the heck of it, I made an exception in the Windows firewall.  No Change.  I tried watching several items in the Windows performance monitor, I didn't see anything unusual but then again, I don't know what process I am looking for.

Can you try renaming your BLS2015.EXE and replacing it with the EXE in the zip file at http://www.cdesoftware.net/bls2015backup/bls2015.zip
 
Then test the backup.

I renamed the EXE and copied in the file you suggested.  It seemed slightly better, but I can't be absolutely sure, I had to connect from remote since I wasn't at either center, I could have tied up the processor with my remote connection.
When I get to the center in the morning I will test again. One thing that happened (maybe because I was remote) was after the web upload, the program closed on it's own (with no warning or message) after it completed.
 
Tomorrow I will give you a more accurate report.

I downloaded new bls***.exe file and ran it and its now tolerable and much faster when it does it's back up. Not as fast as I like it to be, but at least its not taking 3-4 mins to do a 22 team league. It took around 1 minute.  So whatever you did Lance, improved the time.

What's been very strange is that the core code hasn't changed from BLS-2014 to BLS-2015 in regards to the backup/restore area.  The development platform has.  Also very strange in that it's only been isolated systems affected by the slow down.

Was at the center today and was able to test locally, much better, at least now it's bearable.  Normal local backup took 2 minutes, it's down to 30 seconds.  Web uploads much better.  
I agree with Lewis, not as fast as we would like, but much better.

I'm curious...for those that are having issues, do they (and it doesn't seem to be mentioned as yet) have the Dropbox backup turned on? (Pro/AS only) This is, from my standpoint, something that is tied to backups somehow and might be coming into play, although not obviously if so. That, or just the ability to backup to Dropbox could be a factor even if not used.
 
I haven't had issues with backups at all, but I have been following this thread to learn more about what happens, to gain insight, and this morning I somehow considered this.

We just upgraded our back office system from Server 2003 to Server 2008.  The backups are much faster now.
